The only way we can learn about people in the Bible is to read what the Bible records about them. This can be done by using a Concordance (Strong's or Young's) and searching by name.
A free downloadable Bible with Concordance and search facilities is available here: http://www.onlinebible.net/
Download the 'starter pack'. The program is easy to use.
Whereas there are a lot of scriptures that speak about Abraham and fair amount about Peter and Paul there is but little recorded about the Mary's. We should not be tempted to be sidetracked from the scripture record to 'legendry' nonsense by the 'Church fathers' and other apocryphal sources.
Any good Bible dictionary/encyclopaedia will give a resume of Bible characters but there is no substitute for reading the Bible accounts for ourselves.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
If you want to come to grips with what the Bible really teaches, why not take the free online Bible study course available on our website, www.thisisyourbible.com? This course will give you a background in the major themes of the Bible from Genesis
to Revelation.
As with everything we offer, there is no cost to you other than your time and effort. You will also have a personal tutor to whom you may posequestions either from the course itself or those questions which come to you as you
read the Bible.
I hope this helps.
