Thank you for asking a question on This is your Bible.
Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Those who understand the gospel and have been baptised into Christ have direct access to God through him.
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Jo 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
Jesus Christ is our high Priest.
Hebrews 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Pastors along with priests, bishops, archbishops, deacons, archdeacons, vicars, popes, elders, fathers etc. have no God-given powers to receive confessions and act as mediators.
Those baptised into Christ are brethren with equal standing in the sight of God.
Matthew 23:8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
All confession is made to God. Our advocate at God‘s right hand is Christ.We can confess our faults to one another that we might pray one for another.
James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
We are to pray for one another.
1 Thessalonians 5:25 Brethren, pray for us.
Hebrews 13:18 Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.
1 John 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
If you belong to a church which has Pastors, I suggest that you use your Bible to examine your church’s doctrines.There are many churches and only one Bible; they can’t all be right and the great majority are astray from the gospel taught in it.
