Can you explain Hosea 4 verse 6?

Thanks for your question. This is a charge against the people of Israel who have forgotten their God while descending into ever more vile forms of idolatry.

Hosea 4:6  My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

Here's the initial verse of Hosea chapter 4 which establishes that "knowledge" refers to "knowledge of God":

Hosea 4:1 Hear the word of the LORD, You children of Israel, For the LORD brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land: There is no truth or mercy or knowledge of God in the land. 

In chapter 6 Hosea reveals what God truly desires from His people:

Hosea 6:6  For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

The Apostle Paul echoes Hosea in his epistle to the Colossians:

Colossians 1:9,10  For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10  that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
