A visitor writes,

"Genesis ch6 v3.. Q... Why were humans judged when it was the 'sons of God' ie heavenly beings, that took the daughters of men?"

Genesis 6:1 Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, 2  that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. 3 And the LORD said, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years." 4  There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. 5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6  And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7  So the LORD said, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them."

The ‘sons of God’ were not ‘heavenly beings’.
It is a description given to the descendants of Seth.

Genesis 4:25  And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth, "For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed." 26  And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of the LORD.

The descendants of Seth who ‘began to call on the name of the LORD’ are described as the ‘sons of God’.

Paul explains that those men who are led by the spirit of God are ‘sons of God’.

Romans 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Thus, we understand that ‘godly’ men went astray by marrying the daughters of ‘ungodly’ men and as a consequence the earth was filled with violence (Genesis 6:11).

The angels of God do not marry.

Mark 12:25  "For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.

I hope this helps.

God bless,
