Why did Jesus say, "My father and I are one"?

John 10:30 "I and My Father are one."

He said it because it is true. He means that he and his Father are one in purpose not in being. The doctrine of the Trinity is incomprehensible nonsense.

If we doubt Jesus’ meaning we have the following verses, which make his meaning plain:

  • John 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
  • John 17:21,22 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

We can be one in the same way that Jesus and his Father are one.

I hope this helps.

God bless,
