Could Jesus have succumbed to sin or was he impregnable to temptation?
Jesus was born a man. Although conceived by the spirit of God, he was, through his mother a descendant of Abraham and David. Matthew 1:1
He was thus the son of man as he frequently claimed to be. Matthew 8:20; 13:37; 20:28
He was made like his fellow man and tempted to sin exactly as we are. Mark 7:21-23; Hebrews 2:17; 4:15
Clearly Jesus could have sinned, otherwise his temptations would have been meaningless.
Jesus experienced the same weaknesses as we experience.Hebrews 5:2
The penalty for sin is death. Ezekiel 18:4
Jesus died but God raised him from the dead because he had not sinned during his life. Therefore God would not leave him in the grave. Acts 2:24; 1 Peter 2:21,22
Because Jesus overcame sin in himself, he became the perfect sacrifice to take away the sins of the faithful of all ages.
I hope you find this helpful.
