Can you explain Colossians 2:9? Is Jesus really God?
Colossians 2:6-9 As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power:
The character of God was manifested in His Son. To hear the Son was to hear the Father. It cannot mean (as trinitarians foolishly contend) that Jesus was his Father.
Colossians 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell,
Jesus spoke the words of God - to hear Jesus was to hear God.
Hebrews 1:1-3 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high....
God dwelt in His Son by the Holy Spirit, given at his baptism.
John 3:34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
Matthew 1:23 Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us."
Jesus and his Father were united in purpose.
John 10:30 I and My Father are one.
Jesus’ character and teachings are those of his Father. Jesus did what his Father could not do – he gave his life as a ransom for many.
We are called to be one with Christ in the same way that Christ was one with his Father.
I hope you find this helpful.
God bless,
