Can you explain Matthew 25:41?
Matthew 25:31-46 (click the reference to read it)
This is a parable of what will happen at the judgment when Christ returns. We are not to suppose the everlasting fire and the devil and his angels are to be understood literally.
The devil and his angels represent those who have failed to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, take in the stranger, visit the sick and those in prison etc.
The everlasting fire / punishment represents the complete destruction of those rejected at the judgment.
The punishment for unforgiven sin is death, not everlasting incineration. Ezekiel 18:4
In death our faculties cease to function, and we return to dust. Ecclesiastes 9:5
Only those who are accepted at the judgment will receive everlasting life, those rejected are consigned to what Revelation describes as the second death. Revelation 21:8
Into this ‘lake’ are thrown both death and the grave - information which makes clear that the lake of fire is not to be understood literally. Revelation 20:14
I hope you find this helpful.
God bless,
