Can you explain Jeremiah 30 verse 11

Jeremiah 30:10,11 Therefore do not fear, O My servant Jacob,’ says the LORD, ‘Nor be dismayed, O Israel; For behold, I will save you from afar, And your seed from the land of their captivity. Jacob shall return, have rest and be quiet, And no one shall make him afraid. 11 For I am with you,’ says the LORD, ‘to save you; Though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you, Yet I will not make a complete end of you. But I will correct you in justice, And will not let you go altogether unpunished.

God is speaking to the nation of Israel. Israel was to be punished as a nation because of the peoples’ unfaithfulness. In 586 BC Nebuchadnezzar conquered Jerusalem, destroyed the Temple and took the people into captivity. After 70 years the Persian king Cyrus allowed them to return, and the Temple was rebuilt. The people again proved unfaithful even to the point of having their promised Messiah killed. After this the Romans destroyed the Temple in AD 70 and expelled the Jews from the land shortly after. They remained scattered amongst the nations until 1948 when the State of Israel came into being.

In the future Israel is to be punished for a third and final time as described in Ezekiel 38 & 39 and Zechariah 12 to 14. At this time their Messiah Jesus will return to the earth and Israel will finally recognise him (Zechariah 12:10). Israel will then be saved, and the kingdom of Israel will be restored as the kingdom of God.

Jesus will rule the world from the throne of David in Jerusalem. This was prophesied by the angel before his conception. Luke 1:32,33

When people believe and obey the Gospel they become Abraham’s seed and heirs of the promise of an eternal inheritance on the earth. Galatians 3:29; Romans 9:6

Jesus will rule over the mortal population of the earth for 1000 years, at the end of which there will be a second resurrection and final judgment. All who live on after this will possess the divine nature and be part of the 'Israel of God'. Galatians 6:16

Thus, all nations will cease to exist, but the 'Israel of God' will continue forever.

I hope you find this helpful.

God bless,
