What is the peace of God and how can I experience it?
Before we can experience the peace of God, we must first have peace with God.
Following Adam’s disobedience, we are all sinners and that left to our natural desires, there can be no peace with God. Isaiah 48:22; Romans 3:23; 5:12
To have peace with God, we must believe and obey the Gospel preached Jesus Christ, and his apostles.
The steps to be taken are:
Jesus Christ did no sin and gave his life for all who will obey him. John 15:13
Christ’s commandments generate peace. John 16:33
Obeying the commandments of Christ demonstrates our faith.
By faith we are justified, made right with God and have peace with him. Romans 5:1
To live by our natural desires is to be carnally minded, which leads to death, but to live by Christ’s commandments is to be spiritually minded which leads to life and peace with God. Romans 8:6
Paul gives advice on practical aspects of being spiritually minded:
Galatians 5:22-25; Philippians 4:4-7; Colossians 3:12-15; Isaiah 26:3
The peace of God comes from a clear conscience exercised in the commandments of God.
1 Timothy 1:5; Hebrews 9:14; 10:22
We demonstrate our love for God by obeying him and loving our fellow man. 1 John 4:14-21.
If we truly love God by our words and actions, then we have the peace of God in our hearts.
This is not a supernatural warm feeling, it is the answer of a good conscience, that we are doing what he requires of us. Ecclesiastes 12:13
I hope you find this helpful.
