Can you explain Romans 5 verse 8?

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Sin is disobedience to the commandments of God.1 John 3:4 The punishment for sin is death.Ezekiel 18:4 Adam and Eve disobeyed God and brought sin and death upon themselves and their posterity.Romans 5:12

We all sin. So, God promised, and subsequently provided, a redeemer in his only begotten Son Jesus Christ. Jesus, though subjected to the same temptations as we are, lived a sinless life and gave it in sacrifice to make atonement for the sins of those who will believe and make a determined effort to obey God in their lives. John 3:16; Romans 5:19

God raised Jesus from the dead to eternal life to demonstrate to us that his perfect life and sacrifice was accepted by him. Hebrews 10:12-14

If we want forgiveness of sin and a future resurrection to eternal life, we must:

  1. Believe the Gospel preached by Jesus and his apostles.
  2. Repent of our sinful way of life (change the way we live).
  3. Be baptised by immersion in water for the forgiveness of our past sins.
  4. Live a new life by the commandments of Jesus Christ. Romans 6:4

After baptism we cannot live a sinless life, but providing we are making a genuine effort to live by Jesus’ commandments, the sins we commit through weakness will be forgiven by confession in prayer. 1 John 1:7

God demonstrates his love towards us by giving his Son to give his life in sacrifice to redeem us from our sins. What he wants from us is to love him in return by believing and obeying the Gospel preached by Jesus and his apostles.

God has appointed a day in the future when Jesus will return to judge this world in righteousness and raise the faithful to eternal life.Acts 17:31

When he returns, Jesus will restore the kingdom of David as the kingdom of God upon the earth. Luke 1:32-33

I hope this helps.

God bless,
