Can a believer’s name be blotted out of the book of life?
According to scripture yes: Exodus 32:33; Revelation 3:5
When we believe the Gospel, repent of our past sins, and are baptised into Jesus Christ by immersion in water, our past sins are washed away. Acts 22:16
We begin a new life in Christ – living by his commandments. Romans 6:4
Jesus told his apostles: Matthew 28:19,20
After baptism we cannot live a sinless life, but providing we are making a genuine effort to live by Christ’s commandments the sins we commit through weakness will be forgiven by confession in prayer. 1 John 1:7-9
Paul writes to the Philippians: Philippians 2:12
It is those who endure to the end of their lives who will be saved. Matthew 10:22; Hebrews 3:6; Hebrews 4:14
There are those who make ‘shipwreck’ of their faith. 1 Timothy 1:19; Philippians 3:18
The parable of the sower explains the situation – the different reactions of those who hear the Gospel. Matthew 13:3-23
To be saved, believers must live according to Christ’s commandments. The parable of building on a rock illustrates this. Luke 6:46-49
God is not mocked: Galatians 6:7,8 Romans 2:6
The writer to the Hebrews exhorts: Hebrews 10:23-39
