What is the meaning of John2:4? Is there a deeper meaning than just providing some wine?
John 2:3,4 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. 4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
Seemingly a mild rebuke for involving him as a guest in what really was the host’s responsibility. None the less Jesus solves the problem with his first miracle in Galilee, as John remarks:
John 2:11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
Mine hour is not yet come – that is the time when he will take the throne of David and the responsibility of ruling this world. The ruler of the feast’s praise of the Groom is prophetic of Jesus and the Gospel in the purpose of God.
John 2:10 but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
