How can I put Jesus first in my life?
Jesus told his disciples:
Mark 16:15 "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved;
At Pentecost, the Jews asked Peter what they should do.
Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"
Peter replied:
Acts 2:38 "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins…
When Saul was converted, Ananias told him:
Acts 22:16 ‘And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’
From this we understand that what God requires of us is to:
Romans 6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
After baptism we cannot live a sinless life, but if we are making a determined effort to live by Christ’s commandments our sins will be forgiven by confession in prayer.
1 John 1:7 if we walk in the light (live by his commandments) as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
How can I know that Jesus is in my life?
Jesus is in our lives when we obey his commandments
John 15:14 "You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
1 John 2:4 He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
1 John 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him…
I hope you find this helpful.
God bless,
