The Bible is not really designed to be used as a panacea for all ills. The Bible describes the purpose of God with the earth and how we can be part of it. It contains the offer of eternal life in the time to come. How we can attain to it is described in the gospel preached by Jesus and his apostles.
If we have this hope sure and steadfast it should be of great help in times of trouble.
