What we all need is a purpose in life which is independent of life’s problems.
This life is temporary and full of trouble.
The scriptures give us a sure hope of the life to come in the kingdom of God.
To attain unto that life we must:
1. Understand and believe the gospel preached by Jesus and his apostles,
2. Change the way that we live,
3. Be baptised by immersion in water for the remission of past sins, and
4. Begin a new life of obedience to the commandments of Jesus Christ.
The focus of our life must change.
The problems in Paul’s life were greater than those we experience, but he could write:
Philippians 4:11... I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
In the letter to the Hebrews we read:
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation (way of life) be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Jesus said:
Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
In Christ, all things (good and bad) work together for our long-term good.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
