John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
We understand that everything is brought into being by the spoken word of God.
Psalms 33:6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
For example:
Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Everything still consists by the word of God
2 Peter 3: 5-7 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
God has a purpose with the earth and that purpose is assured by the word of God.
Numbers 14:21 But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.
God has spoken this and it will therefore happen. The purpose of God hinges upon the perfect life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. His advent was assured by the word of God. His life and work were revealed to the prophets by the word of God.
Isaiah 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Similarly, his future kingdom and Glory.
Luke 1:32-33 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
It will all be fulfilled exactly as the word of God says it will.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
The word is the word spoken by God. The Messiah promised by the word of God was born exactly as the word of God said it would happen.
Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
He is the word made flesh because he is everything the word of God predicted from the beginning that he would be. He fulfilled the word of God and will fulfil it completely in the future. Jesus Christ pre-existed only in the plan and purpose of God. He was foreknown in the way that God foreknows everything.
1 Peter 1:20 ASV who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but was manifested at the end of times for your sake
He was foreknown in exactly the same way that God foreknows those who will be in his kingdom.
Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
I hope you find this helpful.
God bless,
