Your point is a very good one.

The teaching that Jesus Christ is God is a false doctrine. Jesus Christ is a man, conceived by God but born of a woman. He is the Son of God.

He lived a life without sin and so God raised him from the dead and gave him the Divine nature. With the Divine nature, he is now immortal.

Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

By his sinless life and sacrificial death and resurrection, he made it possible for faithful men and women of all generations to be raised from the dead and also be given the divine nature.

2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

The bodies of the faithful will be made like his.

Philippians 3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

At present Jesus sits at the right hand of God as our intercessor and mediator and he is still a man and NOT God..

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
