A biblical canon or canon of scripture is a list of texts (or "books") which a particular religious community regards as authoritative scripture.
The word "canon" comes from the Greek, meaning "rule" or "measuring stick".
The King James Version contains the Protestant canon - those books that protestants consider to be written by inspiration of God.
The Old Testament canon is the same as that of the Jews.
