Yes you can intellectually learn about perverse behaviour. It depends on your motives and how you go about it. Criminologists learn about criminal behaviour without committing crimes. You can learn about sinful behaviour from reading the Bible and understanding God's standards of behaviour without committing those sinful actions of which you have become aware.
However, God knows the thoughts and intents of our hearts. If you are rationalizing observing sinful acts under the guise of "education" you are fooling no one but yourself. He knows.
Hebrews 4:12,13For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before His eyes, and He is the One to whom we are accountable. That applies to women as well as men. For example, you cannot indulge in pornography without encouraging lust. To do that is sinful.
