Nothing we can do will "make us righteous." God will grant us the gift of righteousness if we will believe the gospel of His son and faithfully try to follow Jesus' example. If we remain faithful, that righteousness is ours. We cannot remain faithful by our own strength by rather by reliance on the strength which the Father supplies in Christ and the forgiveness and mercy He so richly supplies though we do not deserve it.
