In 2 Corinthians 4:17 what are light affictions?

What did Paul mean by light afflictions?

Thanks for your question.

The apostle Paul is talking about the cares and pressures of this life. After all, he knew better than anyone what true pressure and affliction was. He was persecuted by Jews, pagans, and even those who claimed to be Christians! In this verse he is saying that even the very worst possible pressure in this life is nothing when compared to the gloriouseternal life whichwill be given to the faithful when the Lord Jesus returns to establish his Father's kiingdom. This is the perspective that will enable us to endure any trial, cope with any personal disaster, overcome any temptation. Ashegoes on to say in the next verse, the things of this life are temporary and last only for a moment but the "unseen" things, the things of the spirit, are eternal.
