What does the Bible say about prostitution?

Is this really a subject about fornication and adultery?

Thanks for your question.

The Bible does not have much to say about prostitution. Here's what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 6:15-20 -

Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, "The two will become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. 18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Although the Bible doesn't say much, it is very clear in what it does say. Prostitution, by definition involves commiting fornication and adultery. The Bible's condemnation of both of these sins is absolute. The practice of either one will keep one out of God's kingdom.
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
When the Bible wants to describe the great false church, it is called a whore and the mother of harlots. See Revelation chapters 17 and 19. In Revelation chapter 17:5 we read, And on her forehead was written a name of mystery: "Babylon the great, mother of prostitutes and of earth’s abominations.” [ESV] The most evil institution ever to exist is called the "mother of prostitutes" and prostitution is equated with "abominations."
I hope you have found this helpful.

God bless!
