In 1 Corinthians 11 2-6 women are to cover their heads, right?

Should a woman cover her head in our day when praying or prophesying?

Thank you for asking a question on This is your Bible.

In my experience people will only believe what they want to believe. This is clearly shown to be true by the number of different churches supposedly based on the information in just one Bible.

Ignoring Paul’s teaching on head covering is an indication of a much greater problem. Christendom is seriously astray from the Bible on a number of issues. It is summed up in Christ’s words:

Matthew 7:13 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it.14 For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

The problem has always been false teachers.

15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

The test is the same (for both the false prophets and the churches they influence) as it has always been.

16 You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles?

17 In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.

19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

20 Thus you will know them by their fruits.

A perusal of church history will reveal the bad fruit in its deeds but despite Christ’s words, the tree is still believed to be good and its false doctrines are accepted and adopted. The doctrines of the Trinity, immortal souls, saints alive in heaven, eternal torment in hell, fallen angels, ‘Clergy’, ‘Just’ wars and more besides, all contrary to the plain teaching of scripture, are believed because these are the doctrines that people prefer to believe. The end result is clearly foretold:

21 "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?’23 Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers.’

You obviously see clearly the ignoring of Paul’s teaching on head covering. May I encourage you to compare other church doctrines with the Bible?

I hope this helps.

God bless,
Glenn
