Does our glorified new body have physical functions?
Those who believe the gospel and are baptised into Jesus Christ are promised the divine nature.
2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
With this nature they will be immortal and cannot die.
It follows that if they cannot die, they do not need to eat in order to live.
That they can eat is demonstrated by Jesus who ate fish and a honeycomb after his resurrection
Luke 24:42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
Jesus also promised that he would drink wine with his disciples in the Kingdom of God.
Matthew 26:29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.
We do not receive a glorified body at death.
When we die we return to dust.
Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
We remain unconscious in the grave awaiting resurrection and judgment.
Psalms 146:4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish
Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing,
For this reason, death is spoken of as sleep.
Acts 7:60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
When Christ returns he will raise the dead and judge them.
John 5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
Those found faithful will be given eternal life.
Philippians 3:20 For our conversation (citizenship) is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
No one, other than Jesus has ascended to heaven.
John 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
The Kingdom of God will be on earth, not in heaven.
Daniel 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
Luke 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
