When Jesus died for our sins, does that allow more sins to occur?

Grace is good. Should we sin more so there will be more grace?

Thanks for asking a question on thisisyourbible.com.

Jesus died so that we might have forgiveness for ALL our sins.

Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Hebrews 9:26...now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

Forgiveness is, however, conditional.

The conditions are that:

  1. We recognise our sinfulness.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
  2. We believe the gospel that Jesus preached.
John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
  3. We repent – meaning that we make a conscious decision to change the way that we live.
Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
  4. We are baptised by immersion in water for the forgiveness of all our past sins.
Mark 16:15 Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved...
Acts 2:38 Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins...
  5. We come out of the water to begin a new life in obedience to the commandments of Christ. Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Ephesians 4:22put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
  6. We seek forgiveness for sins committed after baptism by repentance and confession in prayer. [After baptism, though we are making a conscious effort to live by the commandments of Christ, we will still sin because our nature hasn’t changed – it is not possible for us to live a sinless life].
1 John 1:7if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation (atonement / expiator) for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
  7. We do not deliberately continue to live a sinful life; because if we do our sins will not be forgiven. Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

I hope you have found this helpful.

God bless,
Glenn
