Why is Easter called Easter?

Is the celebration of Easter Biblically sound?

Thanks for asking a question onthisisyourbible.com.

Easter is a commemoration ofJesus' death and resurrection mingled with pagan fertility rituals and chocolate. The true commemoration of his death and resurrection takes place every time believers break bread and partake of wine in the memorial service which Jesus himself instituted. Bunnies and chocolate are notably absent in these services.

This festival, imported from paganism, was originally in honour of the northern European goddess, Eostre, and involved spring fertility rites - hence the focus on eggs and rabbits.

The bottom line is that, like Christmas, the Easter celebration has no Biblical sanction and owes its origin to idolatrous pagan worship.

I hope you have found this helpful.

God bless you,
Mike,
