Joshus 5:9 what was the reproach of Egypt?

Why did the Egyptians scorn the Israelites?

Thanks for asking a question on www.thisisyourbible.com

Joshua 5:9Then the LORD said to Joshua, "This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." Therefore the name of the place is called Gilgal to this day.

They were about to enter the land at last. For forty years the Egyptians had scorned them because apparently their God was not strong enough to bring them in the promised land. Under Joshua, he would show the Egyptians and indeed all of the surrounding nations how wrong they were!

As individuals, we need to realize that God does not work as we do nor is His timetable in accord with our view of the way things should work out. We need to have faith that God will work His will in His own time.

Isaiah 55:8-11For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways, says the LORD.For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater,So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

2 Peter 3:8,9 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
